School Story

Was manager “Equipment boy” from ‘70-‘71 JV, Head Manager from ‘71-‘73 V. Only football, I was known as Whisperin’ Bill. Cause I was very shy and didn’t talk much, or I would just mumble. To this day I still get called Whisperin’ ! I love it ! I no longer shy btw!
I escaped the initiation of new managers from the old managers back in 1970. I saw what they were doing to the other guys, I unlocked a side door. And when they put me in the small hallway, and the other manager, Scott in the training room with buckets of ice. And they would open up the top windows and throw the ice down on the new guys. Basically stoning them with ice. When they put me in there, I simply went off the side door and ran for my life. They never got me in there.

Comments

Since I graduated in 73, and had many jobs doing several different things from laying brick, block, and rock. Making donuts, retail sales, selling paint, selling clothes. I ended up becoming a welder and a steel fabricator at what used to be Hirshfield steel for 21 years, then I went to Western Towers and worked till I retired. While I was at Western Towers, I quit after two years and took a job as a Vineyard manager. I grew grapes for Seifert cellars for seven years, we did pretty good I have many memories from working in the Vineyard, some good sound bad. After the Vineyard was sold, I had to find another job, I went back to Western Towers till I retired in 2020.
I’m on wife number three, this will be my last one.
I’m enjoying my retirement living, I live out at Lake Ivy. I try to fish as much as possible. I also have a welder machine where I try to make things and sell them. I also play the guitar try to do a little singing mostly in church.

Billy, SUPER Nice guy, would give you the shirt off his back, if you needed it.
Grew up to become a great plumber, his niceness and politeness ran into his business. Just a super Duper nice guy.

David, I don't think he had ANY enemies, if he did, he could just sit on them. I met David when I entered Central, in the football program. I'd like to refer to him as a gentle giant. Always had a kind word to say never anything negative. When I heard that he had passed away. My heart was broken and sad. David Brooks was a great athlete, and a great friend.

every time Kevin looked at me I thought he was going to rip my head off, but once I got to know him.... he was a very nice and cordial man! Wish I had known more about him sooner.
